2024 Perth Mint Next Generation Australian Emu Piedfort Silver Coin - 2oz

With the extra thickness of a ‘piedfort’ and a design celebrating the Australian Emu, this Mother and Baby coin made from 2oz of 99.99% pure silver will be doubly appealing to investors.

The female emu dominates the male at breeding time before laying as many as 15 large eggs over an extended period. However, she leaves the male to incubate the eggs and guard the newly-hatched chicks. Young emus develop rapidly, maturing to fully developed adults capable of running at great speed within a year.

The coin portrays an adult emu striding proudly with three chicks in an undulating landscape featuring native flora. Radial lines suggesting sunlight accompany the design, which also includes a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, and the year-date.
